Switzer Grantees: Driving Positive Environmental Change

The Switzer Leadership Grant Program provides up to $40,000 in funding to selected organizations that work with a Switzer Fellow on a project aimed at improving environmental quality. Leadership Grants are designed to advance the professional leadership development of Fellows and to increase the capacity of organizations to address a critical environmental issue.

Eight Leadership Grants totaling $212,000 were awarded this past spring. The latest grantees include the Institute for Agriculture & Trade Policy, Global Diversity Foundation, American Rivers, Farallones Marine Sanctuary Association, Pinchot Institute for Conservation, USDA Forest Service, Wildlife Conservation Society, and Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition.

ICLEI–Local Governments for Sustainability USA, is currently seeking applications for a research assistant intern for the Spring of 2011, with possible continuation through the
Summer of 2011. This position will primarily support the ongoing development of ICLEI’s Climate and Air Pollution Planning Assistant (CAPPA) tool, a resourced used by
hundreds of local governments to help estimate the emissions reduction potential of over 100 different strategies for their climate action plans. Additional opportunities are also
likely, to help support the development of ICLEI’s other tools and protocols in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, and Sustainability.

ICLEI is a membership association of local governments working to achieve significant
reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and tangible improvements in local sustainability.

networking opportunities, tools, resources, and programmatic support focused on helping
